Verbatim - Text Sound Expo
Verbatim returns for its 5th year on Saturday, October 4th, 11:30am-9pm at the Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts in the Northern Catskills. Enjoy local food and drink while WGXC 90.7 broadcasts live from the stage. Experience bold literary and sound experiments from artists across the Hudson Valley, Catskills, Western MA, and Western NY.
Launched in the first year of the pandemic, Verbatim Text Sound Expo began as a way to bring local small presses and record labels together outdoors to share their work and trade books and tapes. It has since grown into a day-long annual market and performance festival, showcasing Hudson Valley and Catskills publishers and labels alongside a full program of poetry, avant-garde music, sound art, and hybrid text-sound experiments. Verbatim is a gathering of poets, musicians, storytellers, singers, and boundary-crossing performers exploring the space between text and noise.
