Speaker Series

The Speaker Series at Sugar Maples Center For Creative Arts at the Catskill Mountain Foundation provides the highest quality lecture experiences for the enrichment of the community in the Catskill region. Speakers represent a wide variety of cultural subjects from the visual arts, writing, poetry, architecture, and the environment. They are selected based on their extraordinary achievements and unique expertise in their fields of endeavor. Our goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused, and on a wide range of subjects, to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder – and provoke meaningful conversations that matter. This event is free and open to the public.

We are happy to provide stewardship of important historic buildings in the Hamlet of Maplecrest in Greene County and will continue to preserve the architectural and environmental heritage of our location.

Fruition - SMCCA student and faculty exhibition.

Join us for Fruition, the third annual exhibition showcasing artwork created by students in the off-season programs at the Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 17, with a reception from 12–3 PM, coinciding with the Catskill Mountain Foundation’s Organic Farm Sale.

This much-anticipated spring event has become a local favorite, highlighting the experimental and vibrant work developed at the Center from October through May. The exhibition will feature student pieces across a range of media—including painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics—as well as a special presentation of works by SMCCA faculty members.

Kulvinder Kaur Dhew, Director of SMCCA, reflects on the importance of this exhibition:

“This annual show offers artists a chance to share the work they’ve created during the quieter winter months—a time that allows for deeper exploration and collaboration. There’s a unique energy in the studios during this season, filled with focus, creativity, and shared growth. The result is a powerful display of artistic dedication that we’re proud to present each May.”

Fruition is free and open to the public and will remain on view through May 24. Don’t miss this inspiring showcase of talent, innovation, and community.
