She is the author of more than a dozen books spanning memoir, fiction, poetry, and children’s literature, including her most recent work, Knocking Myself Up. Her memoir Valencia received the Lambda Literary Award for Best Lesbian Fiction, and her essay collection Against Memoir earned the PEN/America Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. A recipient of the Rona Jaffe Award and a 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship, she continues to be a leading voice in contemporary literature.
Tea is the founder and Executive Director of RADAR Productions, co-founder of the international performance tour Sister Spit, and founding editor-at-large of the online parenting zine Mutha. She also produces and hosts the mystical Spotify podcast Your Magic and leads a weekly live tarot show on Spotify Live. Her three decades of tarot practice are captured in her acclaimed guidebook Modern Tarot.
