Dr. Elizabeth Mankin Kornhauser is Curator Emerita at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Senior Curator and Chair of The Frederic Church Bicentennial Committee, The Olana Partnership. She is co-curator of Frederic Church: Global Artist, on view at Olana State Historic Site from May 17–October 25, 2026, with an accompanying catalogue from Yale University Press.
From 2010 to 2023, she served as the Alice Pratt Brown Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture at The Met, where she oversaw the reinstallation of the American galleries and co-curated major exhibitions including Thomas Cole’s Journey: Atlantic Crossings (2018). Previously, she held senior curatorial roles at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and has taught American art at Trinity College and The Met.

The Thomas Cole National Historic Site is the former home of Hudson River School of Art founder, Thomas Cole. Located in the village of Catskill, the house, called Cedar Grove, and Cole's studio are open for tours, events, and workshops throughout the year.
