Join us on Saturday, October 25 at 7 pm for Nuttin' But a Word by Rennie Harris
This suite challenges the rigidity of Campbell locking, house, hip-hop, and B-boying, confronting the purist mindset that has stalled street dance’s natural progression. Today’s generation, obsessed with “keeping it real,” cannot relive the era that defined hip-hop’s three laws: innovation, individuality, and creativity. Instead, they must honor the foundations while pushing forward. Nuttin’ But A Word—drawn from a Black cultural phrase meaning actions speak louder than words—reminds us that hip-hop is progressive by design, evolving only through creativity, individuality, and innovation.
Presented in partnership with The Joyce Theater Foundation.
