Celebrate the life and artistry of beloved illustrator and author Hudson Talbott at a heartfelt afternoon gathering at the historic Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Guests are invited to enjoy reflections from family, friends, and colleagues, followed by refreshments, shared memories, and time to explore the exhibition Hudson Talbott: Shining Objects, a vibrant retrospective featuring more than 75 original works, sketches, books, and personal pieces from Talbott’s celebrated career. Known for bringing imagination and color to generations of readers, Talbott’s creative legacy includes collaborations connected to artists and storytellers such as Steven Spielberg, Jacqueline Woodson, and Stephen Sondheim. In honor of Hudson’s love for color, attendees are encouraged to dress brightly for this meaningful tribute.

Thomas Cole National Historic Site

The Thomas Cole National Historic Site is the former home of Hudson River School of Art founder, Thomas Cole. Located in the village of Catskill, the house, called Cedar Grove, and Cole's studio are open for tours, events, and workshops throughout the year.
