Saturday, September 20th, 2-3:30 pm
Join curators Kate Menconeri and Amanda Malmstrom, along with exhibiting artists Ann Agee, Francesca DiMattio, and Valerie Hegarty, for a roundtable discussion on the exhibition Emily Cole: Ceramics, Flora & Contemporary Responses.
Ann Agee (b. 1959) is a pioneering feminist ceramicist whose work explores the boundaries between fine art, craft, and design, while addressing cultural histories and women’s experiences.
Francesca DiMattio (b. 1981), based in New York, reinterprets traditional craft and decorative arts through a feminist lens, creating bold, monumental sculptures that transform domestic ornamentation.
Valerie Hegarty (b. 1967), also based in New York, makes paintings, sculptures, and installations using found materials and craft techniques. Her work reflects on personal and cultural history, art history, and contemporary events.
