Academy of Fortepiano Performance Concert: When the Piano Was Young
Faculty members from the Academy of Fortepiano Performance perform a concert on pianos from the collection of the Piano Performance Museum on Saturday, May 25 at 7PM at the Doctorow Center for the Arts in Hunter, NY.
The 2024 Academy of Fortepiano Performance presents masterclasses and performances by fortepianists Elizaveta Miller of McGill University and Jiayan Sun of Smith College. The chamber music workshop will feature guest faculty Cynthia Roberts, faculty member at the Historical Performance program of the Juilliard School.
Academy of Fortepiano Performance students will participate in lessons, master classes, and workshops supported by plentiful access to pianos from the 18th and 19th century or their modern replicas. Instruction will address technique, stylistically informed interpretation of classical and early-Romantic repertoire, and piano construction and maintenance. Lectures, demonstrations, and daily individual instrumental lessons complemented by group demonstrations, culminate in a final student concert in Weisberg Hall.
