Summer Seasonal Walk

    • Sun, 07/28/2024
  • 480 Route 385, Athens, NY 12015

As midsummer arrives, the nesting phase for most bird species concludes, and the landscape comes alive with the vibrant activity of insects. Additionally, several native shrub species yield bountiful harvests of edible fruit. Explore the summer scene with ethnoecologist Justin Wexler on a walk at Brandow Point, delving into insights about the local environment and the historical ways in which native communities interacted with the land five centuries ago.

Ensure your readiness for the outdoors by dressing in layers suitable for the temperatures and wearing appropriate footwear for a 1-2 mile walk. Anticipate potentially muddy trails over hilly terrain.

It's important to note that the event has a participant limit of 20, and there is a cost of $10 (plus a $2.51 registration fee).
