FAUN FABLES have been pioneering avant-folk since the early 2000s, known for their powerful live shows, theatrical flair, and deeply evocative songs. Their eighth album with Drag City Records, COUNTERCLOCKWISE (out May 2025), offers their most immersive sound yet—blending everyday life with a mystical, storytelling lens.
DAWN McCARTHY's voice—called “one of the more compelling instruments in contemporary music” by The New Yorker—spans from whisper to battle cry, drawing listeners into her mythical world alongside the adventurous vocals and instrumentation of partner NILS FRYKDAHL (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum). Their daughters, raised amid the band’s creative life, now join in with vocals, flute, keyboard, bass, and percussion.
