1874 Lighthouse in the Majestic Hudson River.
Anchored in the middle of the Hudson River between Hudson and Athens, the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse has guided boats through the channel since 1874. With its distinctive red-brick design and panoramic river views, it remains one of the region’s most recognizable historic landmarks.
Although the lighthouse is temporarily closed to visitors due to ongoing preservation work, it continues to capture the imagination of travelers and locals alike. Designated an endangered historic site, the lighthouse is in the midst of vital restoration to protect its structure and legacy for generations to come.
You can still view the lighthouse from shore or water, and support efforts to save this piece of Hudson River history by following updates from the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society.
