Praised by Penn & Teller as “one of the greatest living magicians” and dubbed by The New York Times the “soft-spoken conceptualist of sorcery,” Samelson brings together illusion, philosophy, and storytelling in a performance that invites us to see magic—and perhaps the world—in a new way.

A co-founder of Monday Night Magic and creator of magic for Broadway productions including Pippin, Harvey, and The Cherry Orchard, Samelson is committed to making magic an art form: intimate, imaginative, and full of wonder.

Bridge Street Theatre

Bridge Street Theatre is a vibrant nonprofit performing arts venue and creative hub housed in a beautifully renovated industrial building in the Village of Catskill. Since opening its doors to the public in April 2014, the theatre has become a cultural anchor for the community, presenting a rich mix of original plays, overlooked classics, and innovative new works alongside an eclectic calendar of music, dance, cabaret, film screenings, visual art exhibitions, and special events. The intimate 84-seat mainstage, flexible cabaret-style “Speakeasy” space, and larger gallery area offer unique settings for both in-house productions and visiting artists, with programs that appeal to local residents, students, and visitors alike. Driven by a mission to make high-quality and accessible art available to a wide audience, Bridge Street Theatre plays a key role in Catskill’s ongoing cultural renaissance. BRIDGE STREET ACADEMY – A community-focused arts education program for youth and adults. Join art historian Terry Carbone, Ph.D., for a Sunday Salon exploring Thomas Cole’s The Pic-Nic Party and the artist’s relationship with music and the outdoors. Discover the connections between Cole’s art, life, and love of music, including his original guitar, now on view in Thomas Cole: An American Visionary in the new Richard Sharp Gallery. Terry Carbone is an American art historian and curator with more than 40 years of experience. She served as Program Director for American Art at the Henry Luce Foundation and previously spent 30 years as a curator at the Brooklyn Museum. She is an award-winning author and recipient of the Smithsonian’s Lawrence A. Fleischman Award for Scholarly Excellence in American Art. The Salon takes place 2-3:30pm. Admission includes access to the 1839 Storehouse for the Sunday Salon, and general admission to the historic buildings and special exhibitions, open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sunday Salon series features monthly tours and lectures with leading thinkers on American art.
