Bridge Street Theatre

Bridge Street Theatre is a vibrant nonprofit performing arts venue and creative hub housed in a beautifully renovated industrial building in the Village of Catskill.

Since opening its doors to the public in April 2014, the theatre has become a cultural anchor for the community, presenting a rich mix of original plays, overlooked classics, and innovative new works alongside an eclectic calendar of music, dance, cabaret, film screenings, visual art exhibitions, and special events. The intimate 84-seat mainstage, flexible cabaret-style “Speakeasy” space, and larger gallery area offer unique settings for both in-house productions and visiting artists, with programs that appeal to local residents, students, and visitors alike. Driven by a mission to make high-quality and accessible art available to a wide audience, Bridge Street Theatre plays a key role in Catskill’s ongoing cultural renaissance.

BRIDGE STREET ACADEMY – A community-focused arts education program for youth and adults. The classes are created not only to build performance skills, but also to encourage creativity, curiosity, confidence, and teamwork.

Bridge Street Theatre, 44 W. Bridge Street, Catskill, NY 12414

Join us at Bridge Street Theatre for a powerful and moving reimagining of Shakespeare’s King Lear. Three sisters reunite in their late father’s backyard to sort through his belongings, but the task soon becomes a raw exploration of family, grief, memory, and forgiveness as childhood games collide with adult realities. Blending biting humor with aching honesty, the play asks what we inherit from those who came before us—and how we hold on to ourselves while weathering the past together.
