Designed for both beginners and experienced land stewards, this workshop will help you assess a property’s forest farming potential and put your ideas into practice.
Saturday focuses on mushroom cultivation, including a farm tour, wild mushroom identification, sustainable foraging, log inoculation, and growing mushrooms on logs and wood chips. Each participant will take home an inoculated shiitake log.
Sunday explores forest-grown plants, with visits to woods-grown beds and a ginseng garden. Learn about edible and medicinal species, forest farming techniques, and sustainable stewardship, then participate in a hands-on planting of forest botanicals like ginseng, ramps, and goldenseal.
