Join us for a guided tour of our forest farm and discover how food, medicine, and other products can be sustainably cultivated in woodland ecosystems. As we explore the property, you’ll visit our mushroom laying yard, woods-cultivated forest botanicals, and demonstration wild-simulated ginseng planting. Along the way, owners Anna and Justin will introduce the edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms they steward and forage as part of their diversified forest farming operation.

Advance registration is required, and participation is limited to 20 guests.

Foraging Workshop: Medicinal Plants & Fungi

Saturday, Jul 25, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM After an introduction to foraging basics and sustainable harvesting practices, we’ll explore meadow and woodland habitats, identifying edible and medicinal species, their uses, and any poisonous look-alikes. Along the way, we’ll discuss how different roots, bark, leaves, flowers, and fungi have been used as food and medicine both historically and today. The workshop concludes with a tasting of medicinal teas made from some of the species we encounter. Please note that this is primarily an educational program, and we will not be harvesting significant quantities of wild foods. Plant availability will vary with the season, but we’ll have foraged teas prepared in advance for tasting. Advance registration is required, and space is limited.

The Greene County Youth Fair 2026

Held each year in July, the Greene County Youth Fair is one of very few fairs around the country that offers free admission and entertainment for all ages. The fair is a celebration of the talents of Greene County’s youth, enabling them to strive for higher goals and receive encouragement for their efforts. The fair is family oriented and offers kids of all ages exciting music, displays and entertainment, along with hands-on agricultural education! Pig Raffle – whole hog with processing – $10 per ticket. Hog donated by Yohnk Family Farm LLC. Processing donated by Eagle Bridge Custom Meats.
