Who was your mother before she was your mother?
Bridge Street Theatre presents the world premiere of “DARLIN’,” a funny, poignant new play by two-time PEN USA Award in Drama recipient Michelle Carter.
After losing the teaching job that defined her life for nearly 30 years, Kate faces her mother Liza’s declining health. An unconventional caregiver offers Kate a chance to explore her mother’s past, taking her to San Francisco in 1958, where 16-year-old Liza confronts the mother who abandoned her. With sharp wit and emotional honesty, “DARLIN’” explores three generations of women, the stories we inherit, and the journey toward understanding ourselves and one another.
Developed in part at Bridge Street Theatre, the production is directed by Katy Early and stars Barbara Pitts, Amanda Duarte, and Phil Mansfield.
Performances run November 5–15, 2026, Thursdays through Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. November 5 is a pay-what-you-wanna preview; opening night is November 6.
Tickets: $30 adults, $25 students, with $10 student rush tickets available at the door, subject to availability.
