Bastion Falls marks the trailhead to the trail to Kaaterskill Falls. It is located in Haines Falls along Route 23A, and is one of the most popular hiking trails in the Catskill Mountains. The hike from Bastion Falls to Kaaterskill Falls is ideal for beginners and should take approximately 30 minutes.
Molly Smith Parking Lot on Route 23A (above and past Bastion Falls - past Horseshoe turn over the bridge).
Walk down Route 23A to bridge running over Spruce Creek (just below Bastion Falls).
When you walk down Route 23A, stay on the other side of the guard rails to avoid car traffic.
As the highest cascading waterfall in NY and dropping in two tiers over 260 feet, it is no wonder that Kaaterskill Falls has been one of the regions most treasured destinations for centuries.
