RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary

RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary

Explore one of the Hudson River Valley’s most remarkable natural habitats at RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary, home to the Hudson’s largest forested tidal swamp. Spanning more than 600 acres in Catskill, this peaceful preserve offers a rare glimpse into a thriving wetland ecosystem filled with wildflowers, marsh grasses, waterfowl, great blue herons, muskrats, river otters, and the occasional bald eagle.

More than three miles of trails invite visitors to experience the sanctuary on foot, while paddlers can follow RamsHorn Creek through winding tidal marshes and out toward the Hudson River. Whether you’re setting out for a quiet walk, launching a canoe or kayak, or joining an Audubon naturalist for a guided paddle, RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary offers a beautiful, wildlife-rich escape into the wilder side of the Great Northern Catskills.
