The Mountain top Arboretum offers a natural sanctuary for everyone.
Mountain Top Arboretum is a public garden in the Catskill Mountains dedicated to displaying and managing native plant communities of the northeastern U.S., in addition to curating its collection of cold-hardy native and exotic trees. Its mountain top elevation of 2,400 feet at the top of the New York City Watershed creates a unique environment for education, research and pure enjoyment of the spectacular and historic Catskills landscape. The Arboretum trails and boardwalks connect 200 acres of plant collections, natural meadows, wetlands, forest and Devonian bedrock—a natural sanctuary for visitors interested in horticulture, birding, geology, local craftsmanship, hiking and snowshoeing!

In Take to the Trees, journalist Marguerite Holloway explores the science, beauty, and importance of trees through her experience learning to climb them. As she takes on the challenges of tree climbing, she examines the threats facing forests worldwide while reflecting on the personal significance of trees in her own life. A lyrical blend of memoir and environmental reporting, the book raises the alarm about forest decline while offering a message of hope. Holloway has written for The New York Times, The New Yorker, Audubon, Wired, and Scientific American. She is a professor and Director of Science and Environmental Journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. 5-7:15 pm

Forest Bathing with Beth Rennig
Mountain Top Arboretum
Join Beth Rennig for a 90-minute Forest Bathing experience, easing into presence and connection with nature. This intentional, slow walk invites mindfulness, meditation, and focus on seasonal plants and flowers. Open to all, including beginners, with time for reflection and community discussion. Forest bathing is a year-round activity—dress in layers for the conditions. Beth Rennig, a certified Forest Therapy Guide, NYSDEC hiking guide, and Reiki Master, helps people connect with nature and support their own healing. She lives in Acra, NY with her family and rescue dog.
