Hudson-Athens Lighthouse

Hudson-Athens Lighthouse

1874 Lighthouse in the Majestic Hudson River.

Anchored in the middle of the Hudson River between Hudson and Athens, the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse has guided boats through the channel since 1874. With its distinctive red-brick design and panoramic river views, it remains one of the region’s most recognizable historic landmarks.

Although the lighthouse is temporarily closed to visitors due to ongoing preservation work, it continues to capture the imagination of travelers and locals alike. Designated an endangered historic site, the lighthouse is in the midst of vital restoration to protect its structure and legacy for generations to come.

For the 2025 season, the lighthouse is only viewable by ferry. Explore tour dates and times at www.hudsonferry.co, and discover upcoming events, special programs, and preservation efforts by visiting the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society page.
