Join the Brooks for a look at life in the upper East Kill Valley during the 19th century, as portrayed by Ricky’s mother, Doris West Brooks, in her acclaimed book, The Old Eagle Nester. Blending mystery with a sly sense of humor, Brooks’ stories offer a compelling portrait of life in the remote Spruce Woods near Colgate Lake. The talk will feature antique maps, deeds, survey instruments, and chains used during the settlement of the East Kill Valley wilderness. Participants are encouraged to read the book before the talk.
