Needle Felting Workshops with Grey Fox Felting
Join artist Erin Gardner of Grey Fox Felting for a hands-on, creative experience in the art of needle felting. Whether you're inspired by blooming meadows or cozy winter scenes, these workshops offer a joyful introduction to this tactile and meditative craft.

Ages: 12+

June Workshop: Felt Your Own Wildflower Meadow
Create a one-of-a-kind “wool painting” inspired by the lush gardens of the Thomas Cole Site and the botanical art of Emily Cole, daughter of Thomas Cole. Erin will guide you step-by-step through the needle felting process, helping you craft a vibrant, two-dimensional wildflower landscape from wool.

November Workshop: Make a Festive Felted Cat
Celebrate the season with a playful twist—Erin will lead participants in crafting an adorable, festive felted cat, perfect for the holidays.

Needle felting uses a special barbed needle to repeatedly poke wool fibers, binding them into felt. You’ll work with colored wool to design your own soft, textural artwork directly on a wool felt base.

About the Instructor
Erin Gardner is the founder and co-owner of Grey Fox Felting. For over eight years, she’s been sharing her passion for needle felting through workshops and her popular line of DIY felting kits. Her work draws inspiration from nature, blending technique and imagination in both sculptural and two-dimensional felt art.

Second Saturdays is a monthly series of hands-on artmaking activities held from May through December, inviting visitors of all ages to explore the themes of the Thomas Cole Site’s historic grounds and current exhibitions through creative engagement.
