Outdoor Mushroom Farming Series – Part 2 at the Agroforestry Resource Center

On Wednesday, May 27 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at the Agroforestry Resource Center in Acra, join Cornell Cooperative Extension for a hands‑on workshop exploring how to manage shiitake and other outdoor‑grown mushrooms in the Great Northern Catskills.

Participants will visit the shiitake laying yard to learn soaking, fruiting, and harvesting techniques, along with the basics of building a productive mushroom yard at home.

This session also covers how small pole‑size trees are selected and harvested for inoculation as part of sustainable forest improvement. Attendees will leave with fresh mushrooms to try and practical knowledge for turning mushrooms into a small‑scale crop. Part 2 of a three‑part series designed to help you successfully grow mushrooms on your own land.
