Open House event at Freehold Airport

    • Sat, 06/27/2026
  • 3981 Co Rd 67, Freehold, NY 12431

The Open House is designed to introduce the public to flying gliders and to grow participation in soaring. The event will feature introductory and demonstration flights, educational exhibits on the principles of soaring, and opportunities for attendees—particularly youth—to engage with certified flight instructors and learn about training pathways. We anticipate welcoming a broad cross-section of the community and expect the event to generate new student starts and club memberships.

Event Highlights:

  • Demo rides utilizing the clubs 3 Grob-103 sailplanes & Pawnee tow plane
  •  Engagement with our 4 CGI-G instructors and professional pilot members
  • Civil Air Patrol representation
  • Vintage aircraft displayed on field, both based at Freehold and visiting aircraft
  • Fully catered food vendors (BBQ, ice cream, etc)
  • Majestic views of the Catskill mountains and scenic Freehold airport

Nestled in the scenic hills of the northern Catskill Mountains, the Nutmeg Soaring Association offers an unforgettable experience of silent flight above New York’s majestic landscapes. Located 1 mile west of Freehold (on County Road 67, Freehold NY 12431) — roughly 30 minutes north of Hunter Mountain and 20 minutes west of the town of Catskill — this volunteer-operated, non‐profit glider club is dedicated to the art, science, and safety of soaring.
