Set beneath the open summer sky at Coxsackie Creek Grassland Preserve, Starlore Night invites visitors to experience the Great Northern Catskills after dark on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 8:00–10:00pm. Led by Greene Land Trust Stewardship Manager Justin Wexler, this guided evening of stargazing explores constellations and their cultural significance to Northeastern Native Peoples, all while the Perseid meteor shower brings the chance of shooting stars overhead. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chair and wear sturdy walking shoes for a short hillside walk to the viewing site. Cloud/rain date: Saturday, August 15, 8:00–10:00pm.
Three miles north of Coxsackie, this 300-acre protected open space serves as a sanctuary for threatened bird species. Visitors access the grasslands from a parking area at the end of Houghtaling Road, located off US-9W.
