Explore texture, color, and creativity through fiber arts and collage in this free workshop inspired by the Animal Bodies exhibition.

Discover the art of texture, color, and creativity during this hands-on fiber arts and collage workshop on July 29th from 1-3pm inspired by the Animal Bodies exhibition. Led by teaching artist Chantal Van-Wierts, participants will explore needle felting techniques while experimenting with fabric, felt, paper, and mixed media materials to create their own unique artwork.

No prior experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own fabrics, yarns, or textile materials to incorporate into their creations. This class is free for seniors.

Hudson Film Festival: Short Film Showcase 2 – “The Unexpected and Unpredictable”

Experience an evening of imaginative storytelling at the Hudson Film Festival with Short Film Showcase 2: “The Unexpected and Unpredictable,” on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the historic Community Theater in Catskill. Doors open at 7:45 PM, followed by a special pre-show presented by XFR Collective, featuring selections from the Monday/Wednesday/Friday (MWF) Video Club archival tape collection (1980–1985). Created by members of New York City’s influential COLAB artists’ collective, these restored experimental films and public access works offer a fascinating glimpse into the city’s independent arts scene. The showcase begins at 8:45 PM with a curated collection of short films celebrating unexpected stories, creative perspectives, and innovative filmmaking from emerging and established artists. After the screening, continue your Hudson Film Festival experience at the Friday Night After Party at The Avalon Lounge from 10-12pm, where you can celebrate with filmmakers and fellow film enthusiasts in the heart of Catskill.
