Join us for a nature walk and workshop exploring wild medicinal plants and mushrooms, with a focus on traditional uses of native trees, shrubs, and herbs. After an introduction to foraging basics and sustainable harvesting practices, we'll explore meadow and woodland habitats, identifying edible and medicinal species, their uses, and any poisonous look-alikes.
Along the way, we'll discuss how different roots, bark, leaves, flowers, and fungi have been used as food and medicine both historically and today. The workshop concludes with a tasting of medicinal teas made from some of the species we encounter.
Please note that this is primarily an educational program, and we will not be harvesting significant quantities of wild foods. Plant availability will vary with the season, but we'll have foraged teas prepared in advance for tasting. Advance registration is required, and space is limited.
