Julia's Local serves classic American cuisine, with a Scandinavian twist. Opened in 2023 by longtime Round Top resident Julia Joern and critically-acclaimed Norwegian Chef Henning Nordanger, the restaurant's food and design are the epitome of casual rustic elegance. The menu is sourced daily from the couple's one-acre culinary garden, as well as other exceptional purveyors around the Catskills and Hudson Valley, with a focus on trout from Beaverkill Trout Hatchery. Drinks include organic and natural wines, regionally-made beers and ciders, craft cocktails, and housemade sodas. In addition to indoor dining and a few outdoor tables in the summer, Julia's Local also offers a separate menu of prepared take-home comfort food, favorite cookbooks, locally-roasted coffee, preserved fruits and vegetables, and selected gift items, all made available from their on-site retail space and online store. Throughout the year, Julia's Local periodically hosts special communal dinner parties, each for thirty guests, with a prix-fixe multi-course feast that celebrates the freshness of their weekly harvest. Attracting longtime residents, new locals, weekenders and tourists, some guests might arrive as strangers, but will certainly leave as friends.
