Learn How to Ski Saturday, Crush the Slopes Sunday
As far as winter sports go, alpine skiing and snowboarding are two of the most exciting activities you can get up to. Whether you're a beginner or you've tried skiing or riding before, Learn to Ski Programs at Hunter Mountain and Windham can provide on-the-slope instruction to get you where you want to be – zooming down Greens, or tackling those seemingly impossible Black Diamonds.
Not Into Skiing? No Worries!
The Great Northern Catskills of Greene County are part of the Catskill Park, a 700,000 acre wilderness crisscrossed by Nordic ski trails and snowshoe paths.
Windham Mountain Country Club’s Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center offers 35 kilometers of groomed trails winding around 300 acres – making for an easy spot to try either activity for the first time, or find a new favorite snowshoeing or cross country skiing trail. Snowshoe rentals are available within a snow ball’s throw of the club at Windham Mountain Outfitters, and cross country skis can be rented from Mountain Trails X-C Ski & Snowshoe Center in Tannersville.
For ATV-enthusiasts, snowmobiling in the Catskills is a must try. Rip Van Winkle Snowmobiling & ATV Rentals in Haines Falls is the only game in town, but you’ll have an epic time with them.
For the Kiddos in the Catskills
Windham Mountain Adventure Park offers big thrills for your little ones. Eight lanes of snowtubing, an ice skating rink, two ziplines, and a pint-sized snowmobile park, as well as a cozy lodge perfect for warming up with hot cocoa and a snack.
Mini Mights at Hunter offers lessons for four-year-olds, instructing the tykes on how to perform a wedge when skiing, take small turns and participate in group dynamics.
Explore winter in the Catskills, and the next time it snows; consider it an open invitation to see what all the fuss is about! We’ll see you on the slopes.
