Mountain Region

Sheltered among the highest peaks of the Catskills, the villages in the Mountain Region will feel like home to the outdoor adventurer in you. The towns are characterized by a laid-back atmosphere and a shared enthusiasm for living well and enjoying life. Each offers a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, bars, charming cafes, country stores, lodging accommodations - and easy access to outdoor adventure.

Try hiking the high peaks, biking, birding, golfing, or skiing and riding at Hunter and Windham Mountains. For some off-mountain fun, check out the Cave Mountain Brewing Company, the Windham Vineyard and Winery or spend an afternoon at one of our adventure parks from the New York Zipline Adventure Tours to the Windham Mountain Adventure Park.

valley towns

Valley Region

The Valley Region offers the best of everything providing easy access to the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains. Home to many bed and breakfasts, quaint inns, and the majority of Greene County’s family resorts, the Valley Region has a diverse cultural heritage, unique architecture and an authentic feel. But the accommodations are only half of the adventure. Other highlights include great restaurants, shopping and a variety of outdoor activities including horseback riding, golf, a roller rink, raptor center, hiking, biking, Zoom Flume Water Park, and a number of fairs and festivals.

river towns

River Region

The River Region includes the waterfront towns of Athens, Catskill, Coxsackie, Leeds and New Baltimore. Each is situated along the Hudson River and offers scenic views, attractive Main Streets and some of New York State’s most significant historic sites. In the River Region, you can relax in waterfront parks, go boating or kayaking on the Hudson, visit farmers’ markets, drive-in theaters, the Thomas Cole National Historic Site or the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse.

Take a walking tour through the area’s historic buildings, have lunch at a marina restaurant or just spend time downtown, shopping and dining. The newly restored Main Streets offer inviting cafes, historic theaters, nice restaurants and a variety of boutiques and specialty shops.
