Hudson River Skywalk

Inspiring views of the Hudson River from the air!

The Hudson River Skywalk is a pedestrian path that connects Thomas Cole National Historic Site and Frederic Church's Olana allowing you to walk in the path of these historic artists. You'll cross the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, which spans the Hudson River and connects Hudson, NY with the charming riverside town of Catskill, NY. From three viewing decks along the Skywalk, hundreds of feet in the air, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Hudson Valley.

As you gaze toward the mountains, see if you can identify the features of Rip Van Winkle sleeping. It is a scene that has inspired local and visiting artists for decades, and the arts continue to play an important role in the Skywalk’s future. Eventually, the Skywalk will connect the homes of two famed Hudson River School painters, Thomas Cole and Frederic Church. The Thomas Cole House in Catskill, NY is open for studio tours, workshops, and gallery visits.

Parking is available at the Thomas Cole House. Please do not bring pets on the Skywalk.
