Catskill Mountain Foundation presents the Windham Festival Chamber Orchestra, performing works by Debussy, Strauss and Mahler at the Orpheum Film & Performing Arts Center in Tannersville, NY on November 27. Robert Manno conducts the orchestra, with Elizabeth Mann on flute and guest soprano Nancy Allen Lundy.
The program includes three orchestral works reduced to chamber music in arrangements inspired by composer Arnold Schoenberg. The program will include Claude Debussy’s Prelude a l’apres-midi d’un faune, the Kaiser-Walzer by Johann Strauss II, and the Symphony #4 in G Major by Gustav Mahler.
“All of these pieces are audience-pleasers,” says Manno. “I think people are looking for comfort in these times, so I went with what’s relatable. These pieces are not necessarily easy listening, but they’re pieces that everyone can enjoy.
