On Saturday, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 8:00pm, the renowned faculty of the Academy of Fortepiano Performance will present a diverse program of music played on historical pianos from the Catskill Mountain Foundation Piano Performance Museum, Steven E. Greenstein collection. The sound world of the Viennese masters like Mozart and Schubert is recreated as the music is performed on the instruments of their time. Viennese influence stretched to the cultural life of Ukraine, as will be heard in the music of Ukrainian composers Dmitri Bortnianskij and Mykola Lysenko.
Featuring faculty members Audrey Axinn, Maria Rose and Yi-heng Yang (fortepiano). They will be joined by special guest fortepianist Sylvia Berry, who will also be teaching a masterclass on June 13.
Audrey Axinn is a sensitive and vibrant performer on historical pianos and a teacher of historical piano performance at The Juilliard School and Mannes School of Music. She was the associate dean and a member of the team that launched Juilliard's new international branch campus in China.
