Catskill Mountain Foundation and the Academy of Fortepiano Performance are thrilled to present the acclaimed pianist and scholar Robert Levin in a  lecture-performance exploring extempore ornamentation in Mozart's keyboard music. Last autumn, the ECM label released a seven-CD set of Mr. Levin performing all of Mozart's keyboard sonatas with extensive decorative variations composed and improvised by Mr. Levin. In his performance at Catskill Mountain Foundation, Mr. Levin will explain the historical basis for the practice of performers adding ornaments to Mozart's music, illustrating this practice through his performance of selected Mozart sonata movements, a performance of one of Mozart's complete sonatas and his completion of one of Mozart's unfinished sonata fragments.
