Small forest landowners often face challenges in managing their woodlots and finding income sources to support forest management. Forest farming, an agroforestry practice, offers an alternative to traditional timber harvesting methods when they aren’t feasible. This practice allows you to engage deeply with your land, benefit ecologically, and manage your property with non-timber forest products such as mushrooms, maple syrup, ginseng, and other forest botanicals.
The Catskill Forest Association (CFA) is a non-profit dedicated to promoting forest stewardship through forestry education and services for private landowners in the Catskill region.
As the Education Forester for CFA, Zahra Bellucci supports field programs, offers consultations, writes for CFA News, and helps develop the association’s educational services, social media content, and events. Before her role in forestry, she spent several years in the Catskill and Hudson Valley regions working in small-scale agriculture.
