From Comedy to Conservation

Join us for the inaugural lecture of The Wild Side of Mountain Top—a groundbreaking 2025 photography project! We’re thrilled to collaborate with conservation photographer Carla Rhodes on this year-long journey to document the Arboretum’s often-overlooked wildlife. Our heartfelt thanks to the New York State Council on the Arts for making this initiative possible.
Carla Rhodes' path to conservation photography was sparked by a transformative encounter with endangered Greater Adjutant storks in Northeastern India. A former comedic ventriloquist, Carla redirected her creative passion toward capturing the natural world, with her work featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, and more.
