American Music on American Pianos with musicologist Jeffrey Langford and pianist Joanne Polk will be on Saturday, November 13 at 2 PM at the Doctorow Center for the Arts, 7971 Main St., Hunter, NY. This lecture/concert features American music played on American pianos in the collection of the Piano Performance Museum. Musicologist Jeffrey Langford will begin the program by setting the stage with Civil War Era compositions played by Joanne Polk on a Steinway square piano and moving on to a Boardman and Gray piano, Mason and Hamlin piano, and Liberacci’s Baldwin piano, each with its own history. Ms. Polk’s performances, including Amy Beach’s Ballade and Gerschwin’s Embraceable You, are nothing short of spectacular. All tickets are $25 and general admission only. Audience seating is very limited. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit catskillmtn.org or call 518-263-2063.
