What better way to celebrate the harvest season than to eat some traditional German fare and drink Octoberfest beer. The Rip Van Winkle Brewing Co. will be celebrating every weekend beginning September 29th with some great German specialties and house made Octoberfest. As last year, this years Octoberfest was made with locally grown barley from Tivoli, NY and malted right in Germantown, no pun intended. This beer has a beautiful deep amber golden hue with a delicious malt sweetness, slight bitterness and creamy tannish head. It's a great food beer, especially with sausages, sauerbraten and schnitzle. Not crazy about Octoberfest but still feeling festive? Try RVWB Co.'s Mountain House Helles. The Mountain House is a straight forward German style light lager that medaled Silver at the New York International Beer Competition. The Octoberfest season is about food and beer. Come to Rip Van Winkle Brewing Co. for some great German specialties and award winning beers.
